PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chue San (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Boto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chue San!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ray Boto!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
San feints and then cracks Boto's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Boto down.
San throws a jab when Boto was well out of range.

Boto shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Boto thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed San's head.
Boto content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Boto works his way into side control.

Boto thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Boto tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
San wants to get back to his feet but Boto drags him back down.
Boto tries to score with some ground and pound. San controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Boto just content to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Boto has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
San misses with a body shot.
Nice shot by San.
San dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
San plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Chue San is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
San throws a head kick but Boto moves out of range.
San rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Boto moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
No joy there for San, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A lazy left from San finds it's target.
San fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
San tries a head kick but it misses.
San is breathing heavily.
San tries a low kick but Boto avoids it.
San throws a nice looking combination but Boto bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Boto dives in and grabs San's left leg, looking for a takedown. San pushes down on Boto's head and hops out.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A head kick misses from San.
San throws a body punch but Boto moves out of range.
San misses with a body shot.
Boto checks a leg kick.

Boto looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boto with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Boto is sneakily working for an arm triangle but San sees it coming and defends easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Boto frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Boto takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Boto looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ray Boto dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


San throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Boto stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Boto closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. San did well to prevent Boto getting side control.
Boto works his way into side control.
San knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Boto on the ground.

Boto is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. San looks calm but he's in trouble here. Boto gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. San is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Boto lets go of the hold and San can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ray Boto!
