Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Neves! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Logan Cane! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Seu Braga and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cane is looking to clinch. Cane looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Cane has gone for a leg lock! Neves slips out almost immediately though and dives into Cane's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cane is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Cane has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Neves can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Cane is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Neves passes Cane's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Neves moves nicely into side control. Neves working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Cane really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Neves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Neves is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Cane has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Neves cracks Cane with a big elbow. Neves is looking to take a break and control but Cane is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Cane tries to get back to half guard but can't. Cane looks gassed! Neves trying to control the position but Cane is working away. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Cane taking a bit of punishment here - Neves scoring with strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Neves wants to control but Cane is keeping him busy. Cane manages to get back to half guard. Neves works his way into full mount! Neves landing strikes, looking to finish! Neves wants to control the pace but Cane is squirming around nicely. Cane tries to get back to half guard but can't. Neves trying to control but he's not successful this time. Neves has hold of Cane's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Cane manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cane is looking to improve his position but Neves isn't that keen on the idea. Neves is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Cane is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Cane flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Neves anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Cane and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Neves slips an arm under Cane chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Neves has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Neves is squeezing on Cane like an anaconda would it's prey. Cane fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
