Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Roberts! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roberts tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Roberts shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Johnson sprawls well. Johnson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Roberts gets slowly back to his feet. Roberts shoots in for a takedown but Johnson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Johnson leaves Roberts with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Chris Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Roberts. Roberts misses with a double jab.
Johnson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Roberts is trying to control Johnson's posture but Johnson avoids it. Johnson tries to stand but Roberts is controlling his head. Johnson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Roberts to his feet. Matt Roberts seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roberts tries to clinch there but Johnson circles away.
Johnson works over Roberts's head and body with a nice combination. Roberts shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Johnson pinned against the cage. Johnson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Johnson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Roberts's half guard. Roberts slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Johnson trying to control the position from guard on top but Roberts is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson stopping the sweep attempt from Roberts. Johnson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Johnson wants to stand but Roberts has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Johnson won't allow Roberts to get back to his feet. Roberts manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Johnson manages to get himself to full guard.
Roberts looks gassed! Roberts is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Johnson looks to land a combination but Roberts avoids it well. Johnson looks to land a body kick but Roberts moved away. Roberts shoots in but Johnson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Roberts tries to clinch but Johnson is having none of it. Johnson stuffs the takedown attempt from Roberts. Roberts gets slowly back to his feet. Roberts with a lazy takedown attempt so Johnson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Johnson pushing down on Roberts's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Roberts gets full guard. Roberts looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Johnson puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Roberts wants to get back to full guard. Roberts is controlling Johnson's trapped leg to prevent Johnson from advancing to side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Johnson dominated that round. That's time! Johnson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Roberts throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Johnson sizes up Roberts with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Roberts is looking to clinch but Johnson is avoiding it.
Roberts closes this distance looking for a takedown but Johnson circles away. Johnson throws a right and a left that Roberts avoids nicely. Roberts has his takedown stuffed and Johnson counters with a right hand to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jab by Johnson. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Johnson stuffs the takedown. Chris Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Roberts. A punch combination from Johnson misses. Johnson keeps the fight on the outside. Chris Johnson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roberts takes a kick to the side of the head. Johnson scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Roberts tries for a takedown but Johnson circles away easily and Johnson counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Roberts is trying to get back to full guard. Roberts has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Johnson is working away from the top position though. Roberts moves into full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson looking to pass the guard. Roberts wants to stand but Johnson is controlling the position. Roberts is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Johnson is aware though and is defending well. Roberts is trying to keep Johnson in close.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson wants to pass the guard but Roberts is keeping the position. Roberts looking to control.
Roberts had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Johnson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Roberts Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Johnson's back instead. Chris Johnson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Johnson covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Johnson tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Roberts lands a nice shot to the head. Roberts is in the full mount, landing strikes. Johnson tries to hold on but Roberts postures up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Roberts sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Johnson dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Roberts gets a clinch. Roberts lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Roberts is pushing Johnson up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Roberts is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Roberts fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Johnson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Roberts sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Roberts tries to clinch and Johnson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Johnson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Johnson lands in his opponent's guard. Johnson gets to his feet. Roberts looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Johnson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Roberts stays in close to Johnson's body and controls the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Roberts stands up from guard. Let's bang! Roberts shoots and misses and Johnson counters with a left and a right that stings Roberts. Chris Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Roberts. Roberts shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Roberts misses with a takedown and Johnson counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Roberts looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Roberts is refusing to be controlled, as Johnson sits in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Roberts manages to get to full guard.
Matt Roberts has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Roberts manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Johnson manages to get himself to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Roberts tries to free his leg and advance position but Johnson is retaining full guard. Roberts forces his way into half guard. Roberts is pressing down on Johnson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Johnson is holding on for now. Johnson tries to roll over but Roberts keeps him under control. Johnson won't allow Roberts to pass to mount.
And that's the end of the fight! Chris Johnson showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Johnson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
