Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stan Darsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stan Darsh has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, John Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stan Darsh!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Darsh moves into the clinch successfully.
Darsh fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Evans gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Evans wants to work for an arm triangle but Darsh is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Evans not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Darsh is trying to control but can't.
Darsh slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Evans sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Darsh's guard.
Evans slips a nice elbow through Darsh's hands, connecting with Darsh's forehead.

Evans seems to be looking for submissions.

The fighters are battling for position here. Darsh manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Evans wants to stand and escape but instead Darsh has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Darsh throws a big right hand that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Darsh working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Evans's head.
Evans is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Darsh lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Evans is looking for a triangle but Darsh pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Darsh accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Darsh wants to control from the top but Evans keeps moving.
Darsh passes Evans's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Darsh uses his free foot to push down on Evans's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Evans.
Darsh lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Darsh scoring with strikes but Evans is staying in there.
Evans sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Evans is not content to let Darsh control the position.
Darsh not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Darsh has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Evans looks like he's trying to stand up.

Evans is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Darsh is controlling him.
Darsh postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Evans working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Darsh doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Darsh manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Darsh postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Darsh tries to keep at a distance but Evans has taken the fight into the clinch.
Evans drops down looking for an ankle pick but Darsh pulls his leg out and moves away.
Darsh shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Evans tries to close the distance and clinch up but Darsh swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Darsh feints and as Evans raises his hands in defense, Darsh changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Evans has his foot on Darsh's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Darsh works his way back into a safe position though.
Darsh pushes down on Evans's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Stan Darsh has got the better of the ground game so far.
Evans wants to improve his position but Darsh is controlling well.

Darsh takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Darsh seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Evans looks like he's trying to stand up.
Darsh is trying to control the action in half guard but Evans is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Evans kicks off Darsh and gets to his feet.

Evans lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Evans breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
No luck for Darsh with that takedown attempt.

and Darsh counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Darsh digs a good hook to Evans's body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Darsh fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Evans avoids it really well and circles away.
John Evans has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stan Darsh.

Darsh clinches up with Evans and pushes him back against the cage.
Evans has Darsh pressed against the cage, preventing Darsh from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Evans manages to break the clinch.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Evans wants to clinch but Darsh slips to the side
and Darsh counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Darsh gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Evans counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that John Evans will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Horrible takedown by Evans or perhaps it was just good defense by Darsh which made him look bad.

Evans throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Darsh was covering up waiting for the punch and Evans finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Evans loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Evans decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Darsh throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Evans's waist but Evans gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Darsh off to one side.
John Evans has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stan Darsh.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Evans shoots in looking for a takedown. Darsh tries to sprawl out of it but Evans keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Darsh manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Evans rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Darsh moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Evans has Darsh up against the cage in a clinch.
Darsh wants a takedown.

Evans breaks the clinch.
Evans looks for a takedown but Darsh sprawls well.
Evans misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Darsh fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Evans fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Darsh, pushing him back against the cage.

Good anti-grappling being displayed by Evans as Darsh tries to tie him up.
Darsh tries to circle away but Evans has him pinned against the cage.
Darsh fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Evans's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Darsh shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Evans counters with a shoot takedown. Darsh fights it but they end up in guard.
Darsh is trying to hold Evans in close to prevent damage but Evans has managed to pass into half guard.
Evans works his way into side control.

Evans decides to stand back up. Evans steps back and let's Darsh get back to his feet.

and Darsh counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Darsh.

Darsh tries to pull guard but Evans holds him up against the cage and eventually Darsh drops back down to his feet.

Evans jumps guard and drags Darsh to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Darsh avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Well Evans has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
