Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kirill Fedorov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aimo Kurmottaja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aimo Kurmottaja!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksandr Martynov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fedorov throws a shot from downtown. Kurmottaja moves away and avoids it.
A chopping leg kick lands by Kurmottaja.
Kurmottaja uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Fedorov.
Kurmottaja takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Nice defenses there by Kurmottaja.
Fedorov misses with a straight right.

Kurmottaja gets the takedown into side control.
Fedorov is trying to escape the position but Kurmottaja is controlling the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Fedorov tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kurmottaja wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Despite being in the dominant position, Aimo Kurmottaja just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Fedorov will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Kurmottaja shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Fedorov napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fedorov has had enough of the clinch but Kurmottaja keeps him there for the moment.

and Kurmottaja counters with a nice double leg into side control. Fedorov won't be happy with that.

Let's hope that Kurmottaja has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Aimo Kurmottaja showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well Kurmottaja has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
