Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Matsufubu Rofuru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hade Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rofuru comes to the cage accompanied by Tetsuya Komuro - Speed 2. Wood has chosen Mama Said Knock You Out as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matsufubu Rofuru!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hade Wood!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rofuru moves away from the strike by Wood.
Rofuru throws a jab when Wood was well out of range.

Rofuru drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Wood working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Rofuru.
Wood is controlling Rofuru's posture.
Rofuru won't allow Wood to sweep him here.
Wood wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Rofuru working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Wood wants to stand up but Rofuru is controlling him.

Rofuru postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Wood is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rofuru, into his guard.

Rofuru had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Wood is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Rofuru Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Wood's back instead.
Rofuru is trying to stick to Wood's back but Wood is turning into Rofuru. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Rofuru's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Wood.

Rofuru shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wood but Wood pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Rofuru counters with a left and a right that stings Wood.

and Rofuru counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Wood's guard now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Rofuru has gone for a leg lock! Wood slips out almost immediately though and dives into Rofuru's guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Wood tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Wood fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rofuru sprawls well initially but Wood persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Wood is trying to control. Rofuru wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Wood tries to stand and escape but Rofuru is controlling the position.
Wood is keen to just control but Rofuru is a slippery customer.

Rofuru is pressing down on Wood's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Wood is breathing heavily.

Rofuru escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wood gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hade Wood showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Rofuru's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Rofuru takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Rofuru will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Wood takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Wood throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Rofuru on the side of the head.
Nice straight punches there by Wood. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Wood.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Well Wood has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
