Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Greg James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and killa joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). killa joe is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Greg James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, killa joe!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
joe punishes James's body with a nice straight punch.
joe shoots in and drives through. James sprawls well.
The fight stays on the outside here - joe looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
joe pulls out of a head kick attempt.
James fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
joe throws a body kick that misses.
joe tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but James paws at him with a jab and circles away.
James looks to land a combination. joe sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

James keeps the fight on the outside.

joe closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
joe looks gassed!
joe seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
James is staying active underneath joe, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

joe throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
James won't allow joe to pass to mount.
joe thows a huge punch but James dodges it nicely.

joe is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
James scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

James shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in joe's guard.

James gets to his feet. joe looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

James drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
joe is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

James won't allow joe to pass to mount.
joe seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but James does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
joe wants to pass the guard but James is defending well.

joe is working for a submission of some sort.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Greg James will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



James shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
joe is looking to improve his position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
joe is controlling James's position as best he can from this difficult position.
joe manages to get to full guard.
James won't allow joe to sweep him here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

James decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

James scores with a takedown into joe's guard.

joe sneaks back into half guard.
joe throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
joe wants to control but James is keeping busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
joe wants to improve his position but James is controlling well.
James tries to stand and escape but joe is controlling the position.
James knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for joe on the ground.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
joe is concentrating on defense, preventing James from advancing position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Greg James dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



joe gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows James to score an easy takedown into full guard.
James has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
James would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

joe has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes James off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

joe shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and James counters with a takedown into side control.
joe is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

James decides to stand back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
joe tries to clinch but James is having none of it.
James lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

James is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in joe's half guard.

Greg James overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

joe kicks off James and gets to his feet.
joe misses with a takedown
and James counters with a three punch combo that has joe backing up. joe nods at James to acknowledge the strikes.
joe shoots and misses
and James counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. joe is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Greg James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of killa joe.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

James wants to stand but joe is controlling his posture from full guard.

joe is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
killa joe has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

joe working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. James doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. James manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

And that's the end of the fight!
Greg James showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for James, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
