Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between FAisal mauricio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yair Lopez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
mauricio shoots in but Lopez avoids the takedown attempt easily.
mauricio shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lopez but Lopez pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Lopez shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. mauricio manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Lopez tries to free his leg and advance position but mauricio is retaining full guard.
Lopez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but mauricio manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lopez has mauricio in his guard.

Lopez looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! mauricio has picked Lopez up and slammed him! Lopez can't keep hold of the triangle and mauricio manages to pass to side control!

mauricio decides to take the fight back to the feet.

and Lopez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in mauricio's guard now.

mauricio is trying to control Lopez's posture but Lopez avoids it.
mauricio is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

mauricio has his foot on Lopez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lopez works his way back into a safe position though.

and Lopez counters with a shoot takedown. mauricio fights it but they end up in guard.
Lopezis looking to pass into half guard but mauricio pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now mauricio is in guard.
mauricio trying to control the position from guard on top but Lopez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lopez has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Lopez isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. mauricio stacks Lopez on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by mauricio!
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The referee stands the fighters back up. FAisal mauricio just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

so Lopez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Lopez throws a sloppy strike and mauricio has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Lopez is forced to tap! Great BJJ from mauricio!
