Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sergio Gomez!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Paulo Santos and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos throws a series of punches but Gomez moves out of range.
Santos displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gomez.

Gomez pushes Santos up against the cage in a clinch.
Gomez has Santos pressed against the cage, preventing Santos from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Santos lands a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

You can see the frustration on Santos's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Gomez wants to control but Santos is keeping him busy.
Santos tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gomez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Santos is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Gomez off and has taken his back!

That was a close round but I would say that Daniel Santos will probably get the nod.
That's time! Santos's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Santos counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gomez won't be happy with that.

Santos decides to stand up, so the ref orders Gomez to his feet.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Santos is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Santos decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Gomez wants to control but Santos postures up.

Gomez is trying to improve his position.
Gomez can't do much from the bottom here.
Gomez is letting Santos control him for a moment.
Santos seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gomez for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Santos has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Santos decides to stand back up. Santos steps back and let's Gomez get back to his feet.

Santos decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Santos wants the takedown. Gomez is fighting it off but Santos persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Gomez's guard against the cage.
