Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Persius Masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Leonard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leonard is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by DMX - Ruff Ryders Anthem. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Persius Masters! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mario Leonard! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Colin Fotheringham and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Leonard tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Masters clinches up with Leonard and pushes him back against the cage. Masters breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Leonard fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Leonard shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Masters defends it nicely. Leonard tries to score a power double leg takedown but Masters sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Leonard somewhat. Persius Masters has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mario Leonard. The fight stays on the outside here - Leonard looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Masters closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Masters lands in his opponent's guard. Masters trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Masters preventing the sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leonard doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Masters trying to control the position from guard on top but Leonard is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Masters throwing strikes from guard but Leonard blocks nicely.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Leonard steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Masters. That one must have hurt. Leonard looks gassed! Leonard lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Masters drives through and clinches with Leonard against the cage.
Masters has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Leonard uses from the top position. Masters controlling the position. Leonard preventing the sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Masters is pulling down on Leonard's head. It's preventing any offense from Leonard, at least for the moment. Masters escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Leonard gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Masters has a closed guard, preventing Leonard from standing up. Masters wants to sweep here but Leonard controlling him for the moment. Masters working a defensive guard here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leonard tries to stand but Masters is controlling from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Masters scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Leonard can't do much from the bottom here. Masters in side control lands a decent elbow. Leonard is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Masters's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Masters slows the pace down in half guard. Leonard won't allow Masters to pass to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Masters is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Masters has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Leonard is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Persius Masters dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Leonard tries for a takedown but Masters circles away easily and Masters counters with a nice uppercut. Leonard goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Leonard closes the distance but Masters moves to the side and Masters counters with a takedown into side control. Masters advances to mount. Leonard is working to get back to half guard.
Masters looking for a guillotine from mount but Leonard is having none of it. Masters has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Leonard's face.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leonard regains half guard. Leonard wants to get back to his feet. Masters is taking a breather. Leonard says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Masters working Leonard over with strikes. Masters prevents Leonard from standing back up.
Leonard is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Masters wants to control but Leonard is keeping him busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Masters content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Leonard is looking to improve his position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Leonard misses with a takedown and Masters counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Leonard has his foot on Masters's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Masters works his way back into a safe position though. Leonard tries to land a sweep but no joy. Leonard seems keen to control Masters's posture. Masters won't allow Leonard to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Masters tries to free his leg and advance position but Leonard is retaining full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Leonard wants to get back to his feet but Masters passes into half guard.
Masters knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Leonard on the ground. Masters wants to control but Leonard is keeping him busy. Masters tries to pass the half guard into mount. Leonard knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Masters is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Leonard's half guard. Leonard has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Masters is working away from the top position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Masters is trying to control the action in half guard but Leonard is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Leonard wants to get back to full guard. Still in half guard, Masters seems content to control. Masters is looking to take a break and control but Leonard is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Leonard is trying to control but can't.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Leonard throws a combination that misses so Masters counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Masters throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Leonard works some decent striking defense from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Persius Masters dominated that second round. That's time! Masters's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Leonard shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Masters counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Masters gets a clinch. Leonard drops down looking for an ankle pick but Masters pulls his leg out and moves away.
A decent looking cross lands there for Masters. Masters shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Leonard napping and manages to drive through into side control! Masters in side control, just content to control the action for now. Masters wants to control but Leonard is keeping him busy. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leonard holds on to Masters's head and controls the position momentarily. Masters prevents Leonard from escaping the position. Leonard is looking to regain half guard here but Masters keeps moving and retains side control. Masters stands up. Masters shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Leonard manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Masters throwing strikes but missing. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Masters accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Leonard manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Masters wants to hold on but Leonard pushes him away. Leonard has control of Masters's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Masters regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Leonard wants to control the pace but Masters is squirming around nicely. Persius Masters overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Leonard jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Masters is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Masters and Leonard has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Leonard wants to stand but Masters has his arm trapped.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Masters is not content to let Leonard control the position. Leonard tries to stand but Masters is controlling his head. Leonard stands up and we're back to a striking position. Leonard avoids the head kick by Masters.
Mario Leonard has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Persius Masters is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Leonard fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Masters manages to avoid it.
And that's the end of the fight! Persius Masters showed his dominance in that final round. Well Masters has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
