Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kurisu Ikora (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Paulson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paul Paulson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kurisu Ikora! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Paul Paulson! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shirou Masuda and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paulson has taken the fight to the clinch.

Ikora jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Paulson walks away with a smile on his face. Ikora gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Paulson clinches up against the cage. Paulson lands a knee to the body.

Ikora gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kurisu Ikora. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ikora closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Ikora looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Paulson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Ikora has just dragged him back down to the mat. Paulson tries to improve position but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ikora wants to lay and pray for a moment but Paulson keeps working. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Ikora is trying to get an arm triangle but Paulson is defending well. Paulson manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ikora's best efforts. Paulson manages to get to full guard.

Paulson looks gassed! Ikora wants to pass the guard but Paulson is keeping the position. Paulson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ikora can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Ikora thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Ikora is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Paulson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Ikora is working hard here to advance position. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Paulson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The referee warns Ikora that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Ikora manages to regain half guard. Good work. Paulson keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Paulson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Ikora is not content to let Paulson control the position. Paulson uses his free foot to push down on Ikora's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ikora. Paulson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. A nice elbow there by Paulson.

Paulson working for a guillotine from mount but Ikora is in no mood to give up. Paulson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Paulson breaks from Ikora's wrist control and lands an elbow. Ikora is in a horrible position here. Paulson smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Paulson lands with a punch from half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Paulson connects with a nice short shot to Ikora's temple. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ikora wants to improve his position but Paulson is controlling well.

Paul Paulson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ikora looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kurisu Ikora. Well Paulson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality.
