PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Albert Steller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Stones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stones has chosen I came to bring the pain! as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Steve Stones!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Atkins and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steller connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.


It looks like Steve Stones has been cut.
Stones avoids the body shot from Steller.
Stones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Steller tries to avoid it but Stones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Steller to the ground. Steller escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Stones slips under a jab.
Steller swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Stones bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Stones takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Steller throws a shot from downtown. Stones moves away and avoids it.
Steller tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Stones was well out of range. Poor timing from Steller.

Steller misses with a series of wild punches.
Steller takes a swing at Stones's ribcage but misses.
A shot to de liver by Steller. Beautiful body shot.
Stones shoots for a takedown but Steller saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Steller looks to throw the jab but Stones is out of range.

Steller throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Stones shoots in but Steller avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Albert Steller has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Stones.
Steller throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Steller leaves Stones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Steller is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Stones's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

Stones uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Steller.
Steller's corner calls for a 1-2. Steller obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

and Steller counters with a three punch combo that has Stones backing up. Stones nods at Steller to acknowledge the strikes.

and Steller counters with a nice uppercut.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Steller wants to get back to his feet but Stones is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Stones working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Stones postures up in Steller's guard and throws a big left but Steller blocks it.
Steller is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Stones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Stones shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Steller but Steller pushes him off and we're back to square one.
The fighters circling - Steller throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Steller misses with a looping right.

Steller loads up on a big right hand but Stones slips the punch.

Albert Steller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Stones tries to bum rush Steller with a series of wild strikes but Steller uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Steller throws the left hand but Stones avoids the punch easily.
Steller throws a shot from downtown. Stones moves away and avoids it.
Stones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Steller as he jumps to the side.
Steller throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Stones on the side of the head.

and Stones counters with a nice double leg into side control. Steller won't be happy with that.
Stones has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Steller might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
