PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jack Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jarppi Huhtis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Black!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jarppi Huhtis!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Winston Howard and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Black moves out of range as Huhtis strikes.
Huhtis throws a hook but Black avoids it easily.

Huhtis fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Huhtis jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Black tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Huhtis swivels and escapes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Horrible takedown by Black or perhaps it was just good defense by Huhtis which made him look bad.

Huhtis throws a looping overhand right but Black ducks down to avoid it.
Huhtis throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Huhtis throws a nice looking combination but Black bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Black looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Huhtis!

Black can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Huhtis is looking to escape.

Black is going olschool here, as he tries to force Huhtis to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Huhtis shrugs it off.
Black has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Huhtis is squirming around, avoiding Black's attempts to control the action.

The referee is keeping an eye on Black - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Jack Black.

Black tries to clinch but Huhtis is having none of it.
Huhtis tries to bum rush Black with a series of wild strikes but Black uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Black lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Huhtis backs up against the cage.

Black pushes Huhtis back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Jarppi Huhtis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Black goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Black.
Huhtis takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Huhtis takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Black advances to full mount.
Black is landing with some decent strikes but Huhtis is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Black tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Huhtis paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Huhtis throws a lazy right hand but Black sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Huhtis takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Black shoots in for a takedown but Huhtis shows good takedown defense.

and Black counters with a one-two to the body.
Huhtis might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Jack Black is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Black blocks the strikes from Huhtis.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Huhtis wants to get back to his feet.

Black has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Black seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Huhtis for as long as he can get away with.

Jarppi Huhtis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Huhtis is trying to get back to half guard.
Black slows the pace down.
Huhtis pushes Black away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Black gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jack Black just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Black moves out of range of the strikes.
Huhtis misses with a straight left.
Huhtis swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Huhtis takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Huhtis takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Huhtis throws a jab when Black was well out of range.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jack Black showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Black has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
