PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Huggey Bear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tomislav Saleta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Huggey Bear !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Tomislav Saleta!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, William Gold and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saleta stuffs the takedown attempt from Bear . Bear gets slowly back to his feet.
Bear could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Bear shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bear showed some decent athleticism there.
Saleta pushes Bear off but Bear dives into side control.
Saleta is trying to get back to half guard.

Bear decides to stand up, so the ref orders Saleta to his feet.
Saleta stuffs the takedown attempt from Bear . Bear gets slowly back to his feet.
Saleta has his takedown stuffed

and Bear counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Saleta's guard now.

Saleta had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bear is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Saleta Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bear 's back instead.
Bear tries to break free.

Bear prevents Saleta from getting a body triangle.
Bear tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Saleta trying to control but Bear is having none of it.
Bear squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bear wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Saleta trying to control momentarily.
Saleta controlling well, preventing Bear from escaping the position.
Saleta is controlling the position but Bear somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
Bear is controlling Saleta's position as best he can from this difficult position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Saleta fails to land with a series of punches.
Saleta looks gassed!

Saleta tries for a takedown but Bear circles away easily

and Bear counters with a shoot takedown. Saleta fights it but they end up in guard.
Saleta is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Bear sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bear won't allow Saleta to get back to his feet.

Bear connects with a couple of short punches.
Saleta wants to sweep but no luck.
Bear postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Bear is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Bear gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Saleta shoots and misses

and Bear counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Huggey Bear has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tomislav Saleta.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bear passes Saleta's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Bear tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Saleta swivels and escapes.
Saleta darts in trying to clinch

and Bear counters with a nice double leg into side control. Saleta won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Saleta is trying to control Bear 's posture but Bear avoids it.
You can see the frustration on Saleta's face as Bear controls the position.
Bear has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Saleta gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Saleta tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bear looking for a guillotine from mount but Saleta is having none of it.
Saleta tries to reverse the position but Bear maintains control.

Bear wants to control the pace but Saleta is squirming around nicely.
Saleta is looking to get to half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Saleta defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Bear .
Saleta really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bear . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Saleta really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Bear cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Bear manages to capitalize on a mistake by Saleta to take his back!
Saleta rolls, trying to escape but Bear keeps control of the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Huggey Bear dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Bear dives in and grabs Saleta's left leg, looking for a takedown. Saleta pushes down on Bear 's head and hops out.
Nice takedown defense from Saleta. No joy for Bear on that attempt.
Saleta displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bear .
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Huggey Bear . That's going to take a lot out of him.
Saleta tries to clinch up but Bear circles away and keeps his distance.
Saleta is looking to slow Bear down with leg kicks.
Bear takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Bear avoids the head kick by Saleta.
Saleta shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bear defends it nicely.

Saleta gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Bear to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Saleta kicks Bear off and gets to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Saleta lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Bear has his takedown stuffed
and Saleta counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Bear is trying hard to land a takedown here. Saleta sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Saleta is fighting off a takedown attempt but Bear is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Saleta to the mat. Saleta regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Saleta wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Bear is now in half guard.
Bear looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Saleta trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Bear manages to pass to mount!

Saleta takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Saleta can't escape the position.
Saleta sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Bear wants to pass the guard but Saleta is defending well.
Saleta is in trouble now - Bear has advanced to mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Saleta wants to control but Bear is having none of it.

Bear working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Saleta turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Bear off and cradles Saleta's limp body as Bear celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Huggey Bear !
