Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Mezza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jean Du Pont (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jean Du Pont acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jean Du Pont!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mezza swinging wilding here.
Du Pont tries to clinch but Mezza moves out of range.
Mezza tries to close the distance and clinch but Du Pont swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Mezza looks to land a combination but Du Pont avoids it well.
Du Pont swats away the attempt to clinch by Mezza.
Mezza pushes Du Pont up against the cage in a clinch.

Du Pont is trying to break the clinch but Mezza is controlling him.
Du Pont gets control of Mezza's arms and successfully pulls guard. Du Pont will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mezza changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Du Pont looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
You can see the frustration on Du Pont's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Mezza throws a strike aimed at the side of Du Pont's head but Du Pont avoids it well.
Du Pont is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Mezza asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Du Pont tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mezza wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That was a close round but I would say that Steve Mezza will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Du Pont is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Mezza has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Du Pont is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Mezza.

Mezza wants to get back to his feet.
Du Pont tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Du Pont has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Mezza is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Du Pont has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Du Pont decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mezza to his feet.

Mezza swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Du Pont counters by moving into the clinch.

Jean Du Pont showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Mezza lands a nice hook to Du Pont's body. Du Pont takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
