Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rodney Gailfus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Maximus strong!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
strong throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Maximus strong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gailfus shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says strong as he avoids it easily.
strong stuffs the takedown.
A jab from strong misses.
Gailfus closes the distance and clinches up with strong, looking for a takedown. Gailfus pushes strong against the cage but strong circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rodney Gailfus. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gailfus uses good head movement to avoid the hook from strong.
Gailfus closes the distance and clinches.
Gailfus goes for a takedown attempt but strong pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Gailfus fails in his attempt to clinch.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Gailfus.
strong wants to get back to his feet but Gailfus drags him back down.
strong stops Gailfus from passing to mount.
strong tries to improve position but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round.
strong sneaks out the side door and pushes Gailfus away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Gailfus shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has strong pinned against the cage. strong gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
strong scores with a sloppy right hand. Gailfus should have avoided that one.
It looks like Rodney Gailfus has been cut.
Gailfus throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around strong's waist but strong gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gailfus off to one side.
Gailfus is breathing heavily.
strong scores with a nice right hand.
strong lands a left and a right that send Gailfus crashing to the mat, dazed. strong thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Gailfus is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gailfus tries to score a power double leg takedown but strong sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gailfus somewhat.
Oh Gailfus is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A big right followed by a crushing left from strong knocks Gailfus out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Maximus strong!
