Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Monson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ong Bak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ong Bak will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frankie Monson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ong Bak! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Columbo Gatti and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bak is looking to clinch. Monson clinches up against the cage. Monson jumps guard but Bak stands there with Monson around his waist. Monson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Monson connects with a knee to the head.
Bak wants to get back to striking at distance but Monson won't allow it.
Bak pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Bak tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Monson avoids it. Monson looking to throw knees to the head but Bak is blocking nicely.
Monson tries to pull guard but Bak holds him up against the cage and eventually Monson drops back down to his feet.
Monson pulls guard effortlessly. Bak has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Monson is proving hard to escape from. Monson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bak. Monson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Monson looking for a guillotine here but Bak defends easily.
Bak trying to stand up but can't free himself from Monson's guard. Monson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bak is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Monson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bak's back instead. Monson is not going to allow Bak to sit and survive in this position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Monson misses with punches from the back. Bak is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Monson gets his way!

Bak really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Monson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Monson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Bak wants to clinch but Monson slips to the side and Monson counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Bak landing knees to the body.

Bak gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Bak drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Monson gets the underhooks and prevents it.

That was a close round but I would say that Frankie Monson will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Bak tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Monson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Monson. Bak drops down looking for an ankle pick but Monson pulls his leg out and moves away.

Monson is looking to control Bak but Bak is wriggling around and keeping busy. You can see the frustration on Bak's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Bak stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Monson throws up his legs and catches Bak in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Bak tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Monson! That came out of nowhere!
