Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lance Champion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Umber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Champion comes to the cage accompanied by This Fire Burns- Killswitch Engage. John Umber will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Umber!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Umber decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Champion misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Champion looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Umber is pressing down on Champion's thigh, looking to free his foot. Champion is holding on for now.

Champion is defending against the submission attempts here by Umber.

Umber is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Champion actively working from the bottom here.

Umber is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Champion is just riding it out for now. Umber eventually gives up the hold.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Umber swats away the attempt to clinch by Champion.
Champion throws a head kick that half lands.


It looks like John Umber has been cut.
Champion shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Umber counters with a takedown into side control.
Umber trying to control the action but Champion is working from the bottom.
Champion sneaks back into half guard.

Champion is trying to get back to full guard.
Champion is trying to maintain the position but Umber is very close to passing his half guard.
Umber is trying to control. Champion wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Champion tries to get to full guard but Umber has control of the leg.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Umber in particular looking to stall.
Champion is looking to improve his position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Champion is breathing heavily.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Umber bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Umber changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Champion looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Umber wants to control but Champion is keeping him busy.
Champion is looking for a sweep.
Champion could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Umber trying to control the action but Champion is working from the bottom.

Umber has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Lance Champion seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Champion misses with a takedown

and Umber counters with a takedown into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Umber advances to mount.
Umber controlling the pace for now.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Champion in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Umber shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Umber is in the full mount, landing strikes.
John Umber has got the better of the ground game so far.
Champion is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Champion tries to hold on but Umber postures up.
Umber lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Champion hang on?
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Umber controlling the position easily from mount.
Champion wants to control but Umber is having none of it.

Champion has left one of his arms exposed and Umber doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Champion screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
