0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bill Simpson! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Kavanagh and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Robertson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Robertson trying to control the action but Simpson is working from the bottom. Simpson wants to control but Robertson is keeping busy.
Robertson content to control rather than advance. Robertson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Simpson on the ground. Simpson trying to control but Robertson postures up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Simpson avoids a punch combination nicely.

Robertson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Simpson manages to avoid it. Robertson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Robertson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Simpson. Simpson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Robertson pinned against the cage. Robertson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Robertson stuffs the takedown attempt from Simpson. Simpson gets slowly back to his feet. Simpson avoids the body shot from Robertson.

Robertson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Robertson not landing any meaningful shots this time. Robertson performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Simpson has hold of Robertson's hands but Robertson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Simpson tries to get to full guard but Robertson has control of the leg. Simpson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Robertson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Robertson trying to control the position from guard on top but Simpson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Robertson attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Michael Robertson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Simpson checks the leg kick. Robertson looks to score with a jab to the body but Simpson is just out of range. A big left from Robertson misses. Robertson throws a right and a left that Simpson avoids nicely. Simpson shoots in and drives through. Robertson sprawls well. Robertson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Simpson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Robertson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Simpson is trying to control the position but Robertson postures up. Simpson is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Simpson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Robertson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Simpson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Robertson's back instead. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Simpson tries to get the hooks in deep but Robertson pushed the leg off.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simpson is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Simpson is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Simpson lands strikes to the head. Robertson controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Simpson is working for a rear naked choke. Robertson is not defending it well and Simpson has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Robertson refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Robertson's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
