The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walker shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rios as he jumps to the side. Walker is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Rios's half guard. Walker wants to pass the guard but Rios is defending well. Walker throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Walker throwing shots but Rios is blocking nicely. Walker throwing shots but Rios is blocking nicely. Rios sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Rios is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Walker scores with a couple of nice shots. Rios is doing well to control the position and prevent Walker from advancing to side control. Walker lands strikes from half guard. Walker thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Rios is trying to maintain the position but Walker is very close to passing his half guard. That's three minutes gone in the round. Rios regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Walker. Rios utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Walker is looking to work some ground and pound but Rios has wrist control.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Walker closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rios circles away. Rios rushes Walker and presses him up against the cage. Rios dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Rios's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Walker shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Walker was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Walker fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rios avoids it really well and circles away. Rios throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Walker was covering up waiting for the punch and Rios finishes the takedown easily into guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rios wants to stand but Walker is controlling his posture from full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
