Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Surto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott Alexander is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Miguel Surto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Scott Alexander! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alexander rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Surto moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Alexander thows a body kick. Surto tries to catch it but that hurt him. Alexander closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Surto did well to prevent Alexander getting side control. Alexander is taking a breather. Surto says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Surto is trying to stand.
Alexander tries to pass the half guard into mount. Surto knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Alexander moves nicely into side control. Surto is not content to let Alexander control the position. Surto knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alexander on the ground. Alexander might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Surto kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Surto is looking to reverse the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Surto wants to control but Alexander postures up. Surto tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Alexander wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Alexander misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Alexander fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Alexander tries to bum rush Surto with a series of wild strikes but Surto uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Alexander closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Alexander lands in his opponent's guard. Alexander throws a big right hand that misses. Alexander pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Surto is keeping the position for now. Alexander content to stall in guard here. Surto on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Surto tries to get out of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Surto looking for a guillotine here but Alexander defends easily.
Alexander is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Surto is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Surto is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Surto keeping moving, preventing Alexander from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Surto catches Alexander with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Alexander misses with a two punch combination.
Surto has his takedown stuffed and Alexander counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Surto's guard now. Alexander controlling from the top position. Surto is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round. I looks like Alexander might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Surto actively working from the bottom here. Alexander wants to pass to mount but Surto is defending the position. Alexander uses his free foot to push down on Surto's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Surto. Surto is working to get back to half guard.

Scott Alexander dominated that round. That's time! Surto's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Alexander looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Alexander throws a right hand that Surto ducks under and follows up with a left that Surto also avoids with ease. Alexander throws a leg kick but Surto sees it coming and checks it nicely. Surto with a poor takedown and Surto takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Surto tries for a takedown but Alexander circles away easily and Alexander counters with a two punch combo. Alexander gets the takedown into side control. Alexander remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. You can see the frustration on Surto's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sloppy strikes there by Alexander. Alexander has knee on belly and moves into mount. Surto is trying desperately to improve position. Surto is squirming around, avoiding Alexander's attempts to control the action. Alexander goes for an armbar but Surto turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Surto. Alexander is breathing heavily. Surto with a flurry of punches that miss. Surto passes Alexander's left leg - he's now in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alexander is trying to control but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alexander moves into full guard.

Surto won't allow Alexander to sweep him here. Surto controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Surto postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Alexander controls Surto momentarily but Surto frees himself.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Surto throws a leg kick and Alexander counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Alexander misses with a jab, cross combination.
Scott Alexander seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Surto wants to clinch up but Alexander keeps it at a distance. Alexander keeps the fight on the outside. Surto fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Miguel Surto. That's going to take a lot out of him. Surto ducks under a wild hook from Alexander. A swing and a miss from Alexander. A bone on bone clash there as Surto blocks the leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Alexander misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Alexander moves into range and clinches up with Surto. Alexander wants to get back to striking at distance but Surto won't allow it.

A frustrated look appears on Surto's face as he tries to break the clinch. Surto is trying to force a seperation but Alexander has the dominant position. Surto wants a takedown.

Scott Alexander showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Alexander is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Surto trying to control here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Surto tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Alexander has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Scott Alexander has got the better of the ground game so far. Alexander tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Surto is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Alexander wants to control the pace but Surto is squirming around nicely. Surto is trying to escape the mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alexander controlling the position easily from mount. Scott Alexander is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Surto is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Alexander working away from the top, dropping strikes. Alexander controlling from the full mount. Alexander is landing with some decent strikes but Surto is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alexander is in the full mount, landing strikes. Alexander tries to control but Surto wriggling away.

Surto lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Alexander circles away quickly and effectively. Alexander misses with a series of wild punches.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Surto shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Alexander but Alexander pushes him off and we're back to square one. Surto misses with a takedown attempt and Alexander counters with a nice body shot. Miguel Surto has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Alexander throws a series of punches but Surto avoids them all with ease.
And that's the end of the fight! Scott Alexander comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Alexander has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
