Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carl Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rakul Meyels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Rakul Meyels enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carl Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rakul Meyels!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Silva. No joy for Meyels on that attempt.
Silva avoids the head kick by Meyels.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Meyels.

Meyels gets caught flat footed, as Silva shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Silva not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva stops Meyels from standing up.
Silva is looking to stand up but Meyels won't let him.

Silva wants to pass the guard but Meyels is keeping the position.

Meyels shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Silva counters with a left to the body.
Carl Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rakul Meyels.

Meyels tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Silva counters with a stiff right hand.
Silva throws the kick towards the body but Meyels avoids it.

Silva is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Silva wants to pass to mount but Meyels is defending the position.
Meyels is trying to stand back up but Silva is controlling him

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Meyels gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Silva gets to his feet. Meyels looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Silva keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Silva scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Meyels doesn't seem bothered though.
Silva punishes Meyels's body with a nice straight punch.

Silva feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Meyels has his feet on Silva's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

and Silva counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Meyels tries to clinch up but Silva circles away and keeps his distance.

and Silva decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Meyels's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Silva wants to stand but Meyels is controlling his posture from full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Silva tries to bum rush Meyels with a series of wild strikes but Meyels uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Meyels clinches with his opponent.
Meyels jumps guard but Silva stands there with Meyels around his waist. Meyels gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Meyels is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Silva is keeping busy.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Silva fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Meyels sprawls well initially but Silva persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Silva is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Meyels is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Silva is controlling him.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Silva moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Silva avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Silva is looking to wear down Meyels with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Silva throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

so Silva counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Silva is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Meyels wants to stand and escape but Silva is having none of it.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Silva accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Meyels slaps away a takedown attempt from Silva, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Silva tries to clinch but Meyels moves away
and Meyels counters with a head kick. That will keep Silva thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Meyels decides to pull guard.

Silva decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Meyels, up you get!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

and Meyels counters with a nice body kick.
Meyels tries to clinch there but Silva circles away.
Carl Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva lands with a nice combination. Meyels backs away looking to recover.

and Silva counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

and Meyels counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Meyels.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Silva wants to get back to his feet but Meyels is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Silva seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Well Silva has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
