Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Santonio Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnny Hawkins!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, John Roberts and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawkins forces Carter back against the cage and clinches.
Hawkins jumps guard.
Carter wants to get up but he can't break Hawkins's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hawkins wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Carter wants to stand and escape but instead Hawkins has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Hawkins is looking to stand up but Carter won't let him.
Carter is looking to stand up but Hawkins isn't so interested in that idea.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hawkins circles away from the clinch attempt
and Hawkins counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Carter is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Hawkins stands up from Carter's guard - Hawkins perhaps looking for a knockout.
Carter wants to clinch
and Hawkins counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Carter is breathing heavily.
Hawkins throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Santonio Carter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A jab from Carter misses.
Hawkins shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hawkins was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Hawkins lands a nice shot to the head.
Hawkins tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Hawkins throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Carter has his hands clasped together but Hawkins breaks the hold and Carter is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Hawkins!
