Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Benoit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Daley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Benoit comes to the cage accompanied by Whatever - Our Lady Peace. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Cain Daley was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Benoit! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cain Daley! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Benoit lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Daley circles away quickly and effectively. Daley displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Benoit. Benoit avoids a punch combination nicely.
Daley misses with a jab, cross combination.

and Benoit counters by clinching up. Daley breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
No joy there for Daley, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Benoit decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Benoit passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Daley! Daley blocking the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Benoit stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. Daley misses with a double jab
and Benoit counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Benoit keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Benoit is trying to control. Daley wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Daley is looking to escape. Benoit thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Daley's head. Daley keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Benoit performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Daley is trying to stand.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Daley throws a nice outside leg kick. The fight stays on the outside here - Daley looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Benoit gets the takedown into side control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Daley can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Daley stops Benoit from passing to mount. Benoit wants to control but Daley is keeping him busy. Daley prevents Benoit from moving into mount. Benoit trying to control the action but Daley is working from the bottom. Benoit is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Daley has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Benoit wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Daley, who protects the arm well. Daley wants to get back to his feet but Benoit drags him back down. Benoit stands up and beckons Daley to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Benoit dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Daley tries to clinch up but Benoit circles away and keeps his distance. Benoit shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Daley defends it nicely. Daley misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Benoit gets a takedown into half guard. Daley regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Benoit. Daley is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's one minute gone in the round. Benoit blocking the ground and pound attempt from Daley. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Benoit slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Daley thows a big elbow that misses. Benoit is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Daley defends well. Daley stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Benoit throws up his legs and catches Daley in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Daley tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Benoit! That came out of nowhere!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Chris Benoit! Chris Benoit is the new heavyweight champion!
