PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shane MacKallister (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luc Devereux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Devereux has chosen Bolt Thrower - At First Light as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shane MacKallister!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Luc Devereux!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Devereux lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
MacKallister looks for a takedown but Devereux sprawls well.

Devereux clinches up with MacKallister and pushes him back against the cage.
MacKallister is trying to drag Devereux to the mat but Devereux just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Devereux stops a takedown attempt from MacKallister.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shane MacKallister. That's going to take a lot out of him.

MacKallister has hold of one of Devereux's legs. Devereux is fighting the takedown attempt but MacKallister gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

MacKallister postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Devereux pulls MacKallister in to control the position.
MacKallister throws a strike but Devereux rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

MacKallister is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Devereux tries to stand but MacKallister is controlling from the bottom.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Devereux decides to stand up, so the ref orders MacKallister to his feet.
Nice sprawl there from Devereux as MacKallister shoots in.

Devereux shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. MacKallister is trying to defend but Devereux finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
MacKallister is staying active underneath Devereux, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Devereux perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
MacKallister missing with punches from the bottom.
MacKallister has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Devereux is working away from the top position though.

Devereux tries to stand but his hand is stuck under MacKallister.
MacKallister is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Devereux moves out of range as MacKallister throws a body kick.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Devereux decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on MacKallister, up you get!

Devereux gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows MacKallister to score an easy takedown into full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as MacKallister accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
MacKallister is breathing heavily.
MacKallister lands a couple of digs.

Devereux is working an open guard so MacKallister takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Devereux lands a two punch combo.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
MacKallister shoots and misses
and Devereux counters with a flying knee. Nice.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
MacKallister tries to move into range but Devereux moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Devereux sitting in guard, not really doing much.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

MacKallister wants to clinch.
MacKallister with a nice cross.
Luc Devereux is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

MacKallister looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Devereux!

MacKallister is landing with some decent strikes but Devereux is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

MacKallister stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Devereux closes the distance and pushes MacKallister back into the cage.
MacKallister has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Devereux avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

MacKallister jabs Devereux right on the nose. Devereux blinks but takes it well.
MacKallister shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Devereux counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for MacKallister!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Devereux controlling the position easily from mount.
MacKallister is trying to reverse the position but instead Devereux has taken his back - oops!
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Devereux's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

MacKallister is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Devereux has good solid back control here.
MacKallister rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
MacKallister tries to roll over but Devereux keeps him under control.

and Devereux counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Devereux on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Devereux is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Shane MacKallister overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Devereux has hold of MacKallister's hands but MacKallister slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

MacKallister postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Devereux looks a forlorn figure.

Devereux is in a horrible position here. MacKallister smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
MacKallister fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

MacKallister connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
MacKallister lands a big elbow.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Devereux is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

MacKallister is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Devereux is surviving well by controlling MacKallister's body position as best he can.
