Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Reggie Franklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Franklin's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Heat it up. David Peterson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Reggie Franklin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Peterson! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Franklin takes one to the side of the head.
Peterson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Crunch! Peterson slams his shin into Franklin's torso. Franklin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Peterson scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Franklin rushes Peterson and presses him up against the cage. Peterson stalls. Peterson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Peterson working Franklin over with knees to the body. This has been an exciting period of action! Peterson wants a takedown but no success here.

Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Franklin with a flurry of punches that miss. Franklin is breathing heavily. Franklin scoring with punches to the head and body. Peterson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Peterson wants to sweep here but Franklin controlling him for the moment.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Peterson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Peterson connects with a good right hand that stumbles Franklin. Franklin circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Peterson scores with a nice body kick.
Peterson scores with a decent looking hook. Franklin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Franklin dodges the punch combination from Peterson.

Franklin displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Peterson throws out the jab. Good exchange - Peterson coming out on top. Franklin walks forward, straight into a front kick from Peterson. Franklin checks a low kick from Peterson. Franklin wants to clinch up but Peterson keeps it at a distance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peterson listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Reggie Franklin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Franklin avoids the body shot from Peterson.
Peterson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Franklin manages to avoid it. Peterson takes the fight into the clinch. Peterson has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Franklin misses with an elbow strike.
Franklin is trying to drag Peterson to the mat but Peterson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Franklin has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Peterson uses from the top position. Franklin wriggles free and stands up. Peterson fails to land the takedown. Peterson misses with an attempted mid kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Peterson connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Franklin's hands. Franklin has Peterson up against the cage in a clinch.

Franklin is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Peterson can't fight it off and eventually Franklin manages to take the fight to the floor. Peterson looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Franklin distracts Peterson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Peterson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Franklin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Franklin is looking to work some ground and pound but Peterson has wrist control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Peterson wants to stand but Franklin is controlling the position. Franklin scoring with punches to the head and body. Franklin with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Franklin tries to clinch up and Peterson counters with a three punch combo that has Franklin backing up. Franklin nods at Peterson to acknowledge the strikes. Peterson tries to clinch but Franklin moves away and Franklin counters by clinching up. Franklin is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Peterson gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Franklin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Peterson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Franklin moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Peterson looks to clinch and Franklin counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Franklin. Peterson looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Peterson has Franklin pushed against the cage. Franklin lands a left hand that snaps the head of Peterson backwards. Peterson is breathing heavily. Peterson gets underhooks to prevent Franklin's takedown attempt.
Peterson tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Franklin avoids it. A head punch blocked on the inside by Peterson. Franklin manages to break the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Peterson swats away the attempt to clinch by Franklin. Peterson cracks Franklin with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Franklin dodges the punch combination from Peterson.

A head kick by Peterson misses and Franklin counters by clinching up. Franklin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Peterson throws a sloppy head kick and Franklin counters by moving into the clinch. Franklin turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Franklin manages to end up in side control. Franklin tries for a kimura but Peterson is defending well. Franklin grinds an elbow into Peterson's temple. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Franklin cracks Peterson with an elbow. That is naaassty. Franklin in side control lands a decent elbow. Peterson sneaks back into half guard. Franklin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Peterson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Franklin slips a nice elbow through Peterson's hands, connecting with Peterson's forehead. Franklin takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Franklin is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Franklin tries to free his leg and advance position but Peterson is retaining full guard. Peterson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Franklin is refusing to be controlled, as Peterson sits in half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Franklin manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
