Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Peter John Murphy! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nelson Gracie! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Emerson Jorge and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie fails to land the takedown. Murphy leaves Gracie with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Murphy circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gracie wants to clinch. Murphy stuffs the takedown attempt from Gracie. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet. Peter John Murphy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nelson Gracie. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gracie fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Murphy sprawls well initially but Gracie persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Murphy defends it well. Gracie seems to be looking for submissions.
Gracie is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Murphy is looking to improve his position.
Gracie throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Gracie is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Murphy sees it coming and defends easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Gracie is looking for a kimura but Murphy is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gracie to get the leverage. Gracie looks gassed! Gracie is pressing down on Murphy's thigh, looking to free his foot. Murphy is holding on for now.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Murphy lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Murphy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Murphy stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Murphy wants it to stay on the feet. Gracie fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Murphy sprawls well initially but Gracie persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Murphy is just riding it out for now. Gracie eventually gives up the hold. Gracie is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Murphy has managed to free his arm - good work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gracie seems to be looking for submissions.
Murphy tries to kick Gracie off but Gracie keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Gracie trying to control from half guard but Murphy is working away. Gracie is working for a kimura but Murphy is defending it quite comfortably.
Murphy is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gracie's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gracie's back! Murphy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground. Murphy controls the position. Gracie trying to control the position but Murphy manages to sink in the hooks. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Peter John Murphy will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Murphy misses with a wild body shot. No luck with that takedown attempt from Gracie. Murphy stuffs the takedown. Left hook, right uppercut from Murphy. Murphy lands with a nice combination. Gracie backs away looking to recover.
Gracie is rocked! Murphy scores with a shot to the body.
Gracie is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jab, jab by Murphy - just one landing. Gracie is still on wobbly legs! Can Murphy finish him? Murphy grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Gracie takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Murphy cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Peter John Murphy! Peter John Murphy is the new bantamweight champion!
