PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rashad Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aiden White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Evans kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Pursuit of Happiness. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rashad Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aiden White!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evans throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Evans takes the fight into the clinch.
White scores with a shoulder strike.

White's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
White tries to clinch up

and Evans decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in White's guard.
Evans won't allow White to sweep him here.
White has control of Evans's left arm, preventing Evans from doing any damage.
White wants to get back to his feet but Evans is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Evans could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Evans wants to stand but White has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Evans is fighting to break White's control of his arms but White is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

White scrambles and gets back to his feet.

White closes the distance looking to clinch
and Evans finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Aiden White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

White pushes Evans off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

It looks like Rashad Evans has been cut.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
White tries to move into range but Evans moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Evans thows a left - swing and a miss!

Evans lands a decent elbow from side control.

White takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Evans has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Evans has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

White throws a left and a right that both miss
and Evans counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Evans plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
White walks into a straight right hand from Evans.
Evans throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Evans has White up against the cage in a clinch.
Evans wants a takedown but no success here.
Evans has White pressed against the cage, preventing White from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Evans tries to score a body lock takedown but White shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Evans turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
White is not content to let Evans control the position.

Evans throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and White works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
White wants to control but Evans is keeping busy and won't allow it.
White might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Evans kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

White tries to land a sweep but no joy.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
White has Evans pulled in close to control his posture.

and Evans counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. White is lucky that one didn't land flush.

White is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Evans is controlling him well.

Evans decides to stand back up. Evans steps back and let's White get back to his feet.
White lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Evans circles away quickly and effectively.

White moves in looking to clinch but Evans pushes him off.

White is looking to clinch.

Evans ducks down and throws a hook to the body but White moves away.
Evans dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on White. That did some damage!
White throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Evans.
Evans blocks a head kick by White.
White looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Evans is fending him off so far but White persists. Nope, Evans circles away and we're back to standing.
Rashad Evans has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aiden White.

Evans looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
White shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Evans sprawls well. Evans wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. White gets slowly back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

White breaks from the clinch.

Evans slaps away a takedown attempt from White, before circling back to the center of the mat.

White is desperately trying to improve his position but Evans has a good base and remains in mount.

White has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Evans off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
No joy there for White, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

White tries to hold on but Evans pushes him away.
White is wriggling around trying to escape.

The referee warns White that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
White can't escape the position.
Aiden White has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rashad Evans is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well Evans has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
