Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tod Eckels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Skip Bip (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Tod Eckels has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Tod Eckels seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tod Eckels! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Skip Bip! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bip takes a jab right on the kisser.
Eckels shoots in but Bip avoids the takedown attempt easily. Eckels misses with a head kick.
Bip gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Eckels drops back looking for a leg! Bip is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bip manages to kick Eckels off! Eckels jumps back into Bip's guard. Bip seems keen to control Eckels's posture. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Eckels trying to control the position from guard on top but Bip is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bip seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Bip's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Eckels trying to stand up but can't free himself from Bip's guard. Eckels thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Eckels drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Eckels jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Bip seems keen to control Eckels's posture.
Despite being in the dominant position, Skip Bip just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Eckels misses with a takedown attempt - Bip sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Eckels tries to clinch but Bip moves out of range. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Bip stuffs the takedown. Bip really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Eckels. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Bip is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Eckels can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bip controls the pace. Bip must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eckels tries for a takedown but Bip circles away easily and Bip counters with a series of strikes. Eckels will be more careful next time no doubt. Bip throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Eckels. Bip scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. You can see the frustration on Eckels's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Bip is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Eckels's shoulder. That is not cool. Eckels tries to buck Bip off but Bip is having none of it. Eckels manages to work his way to half guard, despite Bip's best efforts. Eckels wants to get back to his feet.

Bip trying to control the position but Eckels manages to sink in the hooks. Eckels patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Bip wants to control his opponent's hands but Eckels gets his hands free.
