PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Choccy Skillen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Harper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Choccy Skillen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Harper!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skillen swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Skillen shoots in and bounces Harper off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Skillen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Skillen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Skillen loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Harper wants to get back to his feet but Skillen is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Skillen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Skillen looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Harper!

Skillen is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Harper can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Skillen jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Harper manages to avoid the submission attempt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Skillen tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Harper is trying to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Skillen is trying to get an arm triangle but Harper is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Skillen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Harper avoids it really well and circles away.
Matt Harper is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Skillen cracks Harper with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Skillen scores with a sloppy right hand. Harper should have avoided that one.

Skillen is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Skillen connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Skillen cracks Harper with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Skillen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Harper really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Skillen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Skillen is looking to work some ground and pound but Harper has wrist control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Skillen advances to half guard.

Skillen wants to take a breather but Harper is having none of it.

Skillen is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Skillen seems to be looking for submissions.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Skillen lands a nice short elbow.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Skillen connects with a nice short shot to Harper's temple.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Skillen throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Harper is trying to stand back up but Skillen is controlling him

Harper has hold of Skillen's hands but Skillen slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Skillen is looking for a kimura but Harper is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Skillen to get the leverage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Harper can do anything to dispel that myth.
Skillen throwing shots but Harper is blocking nicely.

Skillen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Skillen wants to pass the guard but Harper is defending well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Harper looks like he's trying to stand up.

Skillen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Harper's head.
Skillen landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Choccy Skillen dominated that second round.
That's time! Skillen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Harper jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Harper throws a sloppy head kick and Skillen moves out of range easily.
Harper drops his hands momentarily and Skillen takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Skillen scores with a jab. Harper acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Harper takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Skillen shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Skillen is keen to just control but Harper is a slippery customer.
Harper is trying to stand back up but Skillen is controlling him

Skillen is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Harper sees it coming and defends easily.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Skillen is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Harper is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:04 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Choccy Skillen!
