Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Matti Lautakasa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pate Pillunaama! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pillunaama closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Lautakasa trying to control from the bottom.
Lautakasa is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pillunaama pulls his head out easily. Pillunaama is controlling the pace.
Lautakasa wants to improve his position but Pillunaama is controlling well.
Pillunaama is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Lautakasa has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pillunaama is working away from the top position though. Lautakasa slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lautakasa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pillunaama doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pillunaama manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Pillunaama avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Lautakasa looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Pillunaama has picked Lautakasa up and slammed him! Lautakasa can't keep hold of the triangle and Pillunaama manages to pass to side control! Lautakasa is breathing heavily. Pillunaama tries to move to mount but Lautakasa blocks the move with his legs. Pillunaama advances nicely into full mount. Pillunaama content just to control the position here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Let's hope that Pillunaama has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Lautakasa is trying to escape the mount.
Pillunaama can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lautakasa is looking to escape. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lautakasa tries to hold on but Pillunaama pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lautakasa working to try and regain half guard.
Pillunaama really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lautakasa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Lautakasa is squirming around, avoiding Pillunaama's attempts to control the action. Lautakasa is in all sorts of trouble here.
Lautakasa tries to lock up and control but Pillunaama gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Lautakasa has given up his back here.
Lautakasa tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Pillunaama connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Pillunaama is working for a guillotine from mount but Lautakasa frees his head quite easily.
Lautakasa is desperately trying to improve his position but Pillunaama has a good base and remains in mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Lautakasa regains half guard. It looks like Pillunaama is going to stand back up.
Pillunaama is thwarting Lautakasa's attempts to control the position. Lautakasa tries to roll over but Pillunaama keeps him under control. Lautakasa has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pillunaama is working away from the top position though. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Lautakasa regains full guard. Nicely done. Pillunaama pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lautakasa is keeping the position for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pate Pillunaama dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Lautakasa shoots and misses so Pillunaama counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Lautakasa is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Pillunaama has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lautakasa is proving hard to escape from. Pillunaama wants to control from the top but Lautakasa keeps moving. Lautakasa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Pillunaama is posturing up here but Lautakasa has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Pillunaama tries to roll out but it's too tight and Pillunaama has to tap! Slick submission there by Lautakasa!
