The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Luiz is trying to defend but Smith finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Smith missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Luiz is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Smith is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Luiz is trying to stand back up but Smith is controlling him
Luiz is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Smith is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Smith is landing with some decent strikes but Luiz is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Luiz looks gassed!
Smith postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Luiz looks a forlorn figure.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Smith cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Luiz is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Luiz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Smith is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Luiz has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Luiz is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Smith locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Luiz is forced to tap!
