Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Maverick Heath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drake Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heath swats away the attempt to clinch by Davis.
Davis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Heath circles away from the clinch attempt.
Heath blocks the body kick.
Heath slips under a jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Davis throws a head kick that misses.
Davis scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Heath throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

and Davis counters with a low kick, right behind Heath 's knee.
Heath is breathing heavily.
Davis tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Davis connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Davis scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davis looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Heath really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Davis wants to get back to his feet.

Davis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Heath does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Heath blocking the ground and pound attempt from Davis.
It looks like Davis is going to stand back up.
Well, if Davis is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Davis is trying to control the action in half guard but Heath is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Davis thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Davis tries to clinch but Heath is having none of it.
Heath loads up on a big right hand but Davis slips the punch.
Maverick Heath is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Davis is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Davis feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Davis is posturing up here but Heath has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Davis tries to roll out but it's too tight and Davis has to tap! Slick submission there by Heath!
