PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Caprice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mr Baxter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Caprice might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Prodigy - Breathe . The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Caprice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mr Baxter!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Daniel Bishop and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Caprice closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Caprice will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Baxter looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Caprice not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Nice strikes from Caprice there.
Caprice drops an elbow to the side of Baxter's head.

Caprice wants to work for an arm triangle but Baxter is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Baxter is looking to control Caprice's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Baxter avoid being mounted?

Caprice seems to be working for a kimura but Baxter defends the submission attempt.
Caprice thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Baxter's head.

Caprice looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Caprice wants to work for an arm triangle but Baxter is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Baxter is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Caprice's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Caprice's back!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Caprice really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Caprice rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Baxter is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Caprice is just riding it out for now. Baxter eventually gives up the hold.
Baxter tries to pass the half guard into mount. Caprice knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Caprice is looking to control Baxter's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Caprice avoid being mounted?

Caprice has a hand on Baxter's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Baxter takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Caprice is trying desperately to improve position.
Baxter takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Baxter scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Baxter landing strikes, looking to finish!
Caprice wants to control but Baxter is having none of it.

Baxter goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Caprice turns into him and now he's in Baxter's guard.
Caprice postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Caprice dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Caprice fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Caprice gets a clinch.
Baxter is trying to break free.
Caprice goes for a takedown attempt but Baxter pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Baxter closes the distance but Caprice moves to the side

and Caprice counters with a nice double leg into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Caprice accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Caprice trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Caprice trying to stand up but can't free himself from Baxter's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Caprice drops back, looking for a kneebar! Baxter looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Baxter looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Baxter!
Caprice is trying to improve his position.
Caprice takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Caprice is looking for a sweep.
Caprice is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Baxter is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Baxter trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Caprice wants to hold on but Baxter pushes him away.
Baxter unloading with bombs!

Baxter gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Baxter tries to clinch

and Caprice counters with a nice double leg into side control. Baxter won't be happy with that.
Baxter tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Baxter can't do much from the bottom here.

Baxter manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Caprice working the head and body with strikes.
Baxter is looking for a sweep. Caprice is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Baxter is trying to control but can't.
Baxter moves into full guard.
Baxter preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Baxter has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Caprice lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Baxter lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Caprice!
Caprice tries to hold on but Baxter pushes him away.
Baxter prevents Caprice from getting the reversal.

Caprice is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Baxter locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Caprice is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mr Baxter!
