Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rich Savage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rico Pfeifer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rich Savage! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rico Pfeifer! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Emerson Jorge and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pfeifer closes the distance and clinches up with Savage, looking for a takedown. Pfeifer pushes Savage against the cage but Savage circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Savage lands a left and a right that send Pfeifer crashing to the mat, dazed. Savage thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Pfeifer is rocked!
It looks like Rico Pfeifer has been cut. Pfeifer shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pfeifer is looking to advance position but Savage won't allow it. Pfeifer thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Savage on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Savage is trying to stand up here but Pfeifer is controlling him well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pfeifer stands up from half guard. No luck for Pfeifer with that takedown attempt. Savage tries to bum rush Pfeifer with a series of wild strikes but Pfeifer uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Pfeifer tries to close the distance and clinch but Savage swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Pfeifer fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Rich Savage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rico Pfeifer. Pfeifer tries to clinch there but Savage circles away.
Pfeifer shoots in for a takedown but Savage shows good takedown defense. Pfeifer shoots for a double leg takedown but Savage sprawls well. He's pushed Pfeifer's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Pfeifer looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Savage is fending him off so far but Pfeifer persists. Nope, Savage circles away and we're back to standing. Pfeifer scores a takedown into full mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pfeifer misses with a head shot. Pfeifer throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Savage because Pfeifer loaded up on that one. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pfeifer postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Savage looks a forlorn figure.
Savage trying desperately to get to his feet.
Savage is squirming around, avoiding Pfeifer's attempts to control the action. You get the feeling that Savage really doesn't like being in this position too much.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Pfeifer is in the full mount, landing strikes. Pfeifer sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Pfeifer postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Savage looks a forlorn figure.
Savage wants to get back to his feet.
Pfeifer is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Savage is surviving well by controlling Pfeifer's body position as best he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rico Pfeifer dominated that round. The cut man is working on Rico Pfeifer's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Pfeifer tries to clinch there but Savage circles away.
Rico Pfeifer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pfeifer looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Savage! Savage is squirming around, avoiding Pfeifer's attempts to control the action. Savage wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Pfeifer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pfeifer controlling the pace for now. Pfeifer throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Pfeifer jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Savage is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Savage and Pfeifer has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Savage is not content to let Pfeifer control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Pfeifer has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Pfeifer happy to just control the position for now. Pfeifer tries for a kimura but Savage is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pfeifer trying to control the action but Savage is working from the bottom. Pfeifer is working to tighten is grip on Savage's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Savage has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Pfeifer is really squeezing tight and eventually Savage passes out! Pfeifer breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
