The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holmes shoots in and drives through. Murphy sprawls well.
Murphy stuffs the takedown.
Holmes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Holmes slips a jab and a cross from Murphy.
Holmes changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Murphy looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Holmes is breathing heavily.
Murphy is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Murphy has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Holmes is working away from the top position though.
Murphy might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Holmes kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Murphy tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Murphy slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Murphy working for a triangle but Holmes defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Murphy pulls Holmes in close to his closed guard and prevents Holmes from doing any damage or advancing position.

Murphy looking for a guillotine here but Holmes defends easily.
Murphy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Murphy wants to take a breather but Holmes is having none of it.

Holmes on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Holmes tries to get out of the position.
Murphy is just content to waste time from the top position. Holmes takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Murphy thows a big elbow that misses.
Murphy trying to control the position from guard on top but Holmes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Holmes trying to keep a closed guard but Murphy is proving a slippery customer.

Holmes wants to sweep but no luck.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Holmes shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Murphy as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Holmes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Murphy throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Holmes stumbling backwards into the cage! Holmes bounces back off the cage towards Murphy, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Murphy lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Murphy celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
