Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alika Akahi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Chavez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Akahi comes to the cage accompanied by Hawaiian Superman. Chavez is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by La Bamba. Antonio Chavez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chavez doesn't manage to clinch there - Akahi circles away.
Chavez misses with a takedown attempt - Akahi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Chavez misses with a series of wild punches.
Akahi with a poor takedown so Chavez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Akahi keeping moving, preventing Chavez from controlling successfully. Akahi wants to get back to his feet but Chavez is in a dominant position and won't allow it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chavez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Akahi keeping moving, preventing Chavez from controlling successfully. Chavez decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fight moves into the clinch position. Akahi pulls guard. Akahi wants to get back to his feet but Chavez is in a dominant position and won't allow it. That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Akahi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Akahi is looking to stall here but Chavez recovers full guard. That's three minutes gone in the round. Chavez can't keep his opponent in guard - Akahi advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Akahi connects with a nice short shot to Chavez's temple. Chavez is not content to let Akahi control the position. Chavez is trying to maintain the position but Akahi is very close to passing his half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Chavez is doing well to control the position and prevent Akahi from advancing to side control. Akahi is keen to just control but Chavez is a slippery customer. Akahi wants to stand but Chavez has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Antonio Chavez dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Chavez gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Akahi to score an easy takedown into full guard. Akahi wants to stand but Chavez has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Chavez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Akahi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Akahi pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Chavez is keeping the position for now. Akahi is working hard here to advance position. Akahi wants to get up but he can't break Chavez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Chavez pulls Akahi in close to prevent any damage.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Chavez tries to clinch but Akahi moves away and Akahi counters with a lovely shot to the body. Chavez slips under a jab from Akahi. Akahi lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A combination from Chavez does no damage. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Akahi fails in his attempt to clinch. Chavez digs a good hook to Akahi's body.
Akahi has his takedown stuffed and Chavez counters by clinching up. Chavez can't get the takedown.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Akahi wants to break the clinch but can't.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Chavez jumps guard but Akahi stands there with Chavez around his waist. Chavez gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Alika Akahi dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Chavez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Akahi paws at him with a jab and circles away. A combination from Chavez does no damage. Chavez shoots in for a takedown but Akahi shows good takedown defense. Chavez tries to clinch up. Akahi tries for a takedown but Chavez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Akahi fails to land the takedown. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Akahi shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Chavez napping and manages to drive through into side control! Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chavez is looking for a sweep. Akahi looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Chavez is avoiding damage well.
Akahi tries to move into full mount but can't pass Chavez's legs. Akahi stands up and we're back to a striking position. Chavez misses with a few strikes there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Chavez misses with a two punch combination.
Chavez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Akahi takes the fight into the clinch. Chavez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Akahi walks away with a smile on his face. Chavez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Chavez wants to clinch but Akahi slips to the side and Chavez takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Chavez connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Akahi's hands. Chavez takes the fight into the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chavez tries to pull guard but Akahi holds him up against the cage and eventually Chavez drops back down to his feet.

Chavez slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Chavez stands and throws Akahi's legs to the side, diving into side control. Akahi is trying to escape the position but Chavez is controlling the position. Chavez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Akahi keeps working. The referee asks Chavez politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Chavez prefers to stall for the moment though.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Antonio Chavez. I think Chavez has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
