Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jackson Wholequist!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anderson Beerly!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wholequist will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Wholequist drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Wholequist has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Beerly!
Beerly tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Wholequist tries to control but Beerly wriggling away.
Beerly can't escape the position.
Beerly wants to hold on but Wholequist pushes him away.
Beerly working to try and regain half guard.
Wholequist with the ground and pound from mount.
Beerly tries to lock up and control but Wholequist gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Wholequist sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Wholequist has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Beerly tries to hold on but Wholequist postures up.
Beerly holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Wholequist tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wholequist misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Beerly defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Wholequist.
Wholequist looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Wholequist sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Wholequist pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Beerly sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Wholequist throwing shots but Beerly is blocking nicely.
Beerly has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Wholequist is working away from the top position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Beerly slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Wholequist is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Beerly managing to control the position.
Beerly's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Let's hope that Beerly has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wholequist stops Beerly from standing up.
Wholequist postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Beerly is on top in guard.
Wholequist is looking to sweep but instead, Beerly has passed into half guard.

Beerly decides to return to a standing position.
Wholequist takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Wholequist is breathing heavily.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Beerly.

Beerly cracks Wholequist with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Beerly has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Wholequist to stand back up!


Wholequist is rocked!


It looks like Jackson Wholequist has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wholequist is holding his hands too far apart here. Beerly throws a hard, straight punch right down the pipe and BOOM! Wholequist is out! That punch landed square on the jaw - what a shot!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Anderson Beerly!
