PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Quan Raiden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Daniels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quan Raiden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Daniels!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raiden swats away the attempt to clinch by Daniels.

Daniels closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Daniels is pressing down on Raiden's thigh, looking to free his foot. Raiden is holding on for now.
Raiden knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Daniels on the ground.
Raiden is trying to control but can't.

Daniels seems to be working for a kimura but Raiden defends the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Raiden won't allow Daniels to pass to mount.

Daniels is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Daniels looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Raiden is trying to get back to full guard.
Raiden is trying to stand up here but Daniels is controlling him well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Raiden throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Daniels on the side of the head.
Raiden misses with a leg kick.

Daniels scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Daniels goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Raiden has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Daniels but great work by Raiden.

Daniels gets back to half guard.

Daniels is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Raiden pulls his head out easily.
Daniels is staying active underneath Raiden, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Raiden will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Daniels is trying to control but can't.
Daniels wants to improve his position but Raiden is controlling well.
Raiden tries to stand and escape but Daniels is controlling the position.
Daniels wants to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are battling for position here. Daniels manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Daniels has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Raiden can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Daniels has his foot on Raiden's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Raiden works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Raiden is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Daniels is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Daniels working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Raiden doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Raiden manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Daniels seems keen to control Raiden's posture.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Daniels wants to sweep but no luck.

Jack Daniels showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Daniels tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Raiden just stands there and leans against the cage.

Raiden swings away with an uppercut that misses.
A nice right hand lands inside from Raiden.
Raiden lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Raiden tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Daniels tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Raiden smiles and moves away.
Raiden connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Quan Raiden has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Daniels closes the distance but Raiden moves to the side
and Raiden counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Raiden is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Raiden jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Daniels fails with the takedown
and Raiden counters with a straight right hand.
Daniels looks to score with a jab to the body but Raiden is just out of range.
Daniels takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Jack Daniels is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Daniels dives in and grabs Raiden's left leg, looking for a takedown. Raiden pushes down on Daniels's head and hops out.
Raiden misses with a low kick.
Daniels looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Raiden connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Daniels momentarily.

And that's the end of the fight!
Quan Raiden showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Daniels has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
