Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tubby Hayes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alexandre Rivet!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Emerson Jorge and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rivet.
Rivet looks to land a combination. Hayes sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


It looks like Tubby Hayes has been cut.

Rivet drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hayes pulls Rivet in close to his closed guard and prevents Rivet from doing any damage or advancing position.
Rivet trying to stand up but can't free himself from Hayes's guard.
Hayes pulls Rivet in to control the position.
Hayes wants to sweep but no luck.
Hayes is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Hayes on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hayes tries to get out of the position.

Rivet throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Hayes tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rivet wanted to stand there but Hayes had control of the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Rivet is looking to work some ground and pound but Hayes has wrist control.
Rivet keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hayes's head.
Hayes controlling the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rivet accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hayes pulls Rivet in to control the position.
Rivet stopping the sweep attempt from Hayes.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hayes is on top in guard.
Hayes passes Rivet's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Rivet pushes Hayes off looking to stand but Hayes dives back in and keeps control.
Rivet wants to improve his position but Hayes is controlling well.
Rivet is trying to stand back up but Hayes is controlling him
Hayes trying to mount his opponent but Rivet defends it.
Still in half guard, Hayes seems content to control.
Hayes has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Nice sprawl there from Hayes as Rivet shoots in.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hayes takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Hayes has closed the distance and engaged Rivet in a clinch.
Rivet is trying to force a seperation but Hayes has the dominant position.
A bit of stalling here from Hayes.

Hayes turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Hayes manages to end up in side control.

Rivet wants to get back to his feet but Hayes drags him back down.

A close round but Alexandre Rivet will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hayes circles away from the clinch attempt

and Hayes counters by moving into the clinch.
Rivet jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hayes walks away with a smile on his face. Rivet gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Hayes counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rivet's guard now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rivet wants to stand and escape but Hayes is having none of it.
Hayes not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Hayes seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rivet for as long as he can get away with.

Rivet wants to stand but Hayes is controlling the position.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hayes in particular looking to stall.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Rivet, as that shot connected.

and Hayes counters with an outside leg kick.

and Hayes counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Rivet tries to break free but Hayes pushes him back against the cage.
Rivet wants to break free but Hayes has control.
A frustrated look appears on Rivet's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Rivet has had enough of the clinch but Hayes keeps him there for the moment.
Rivet can't break the clinch.
Rivet wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Hayes turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Rivet tries to improve position but can't.
Rivet trying to remain calm as Hayes controls from the top position.
Tubby Hayes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Rivet is pushing Hayes's head away, looking to escape. Hayes manages to hold on to the position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rivet will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Hayes's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Hayes is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Rivet shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Hayes tries to hold on but Rivet postures up.

Rivet looking to ground and pound but Hayes is blocking nicely.
Rivet lands a heavy elbow.
Hayes wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Rivet.

Rivet is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Hayes can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Rivet takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hayes is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Hayes slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Hayes wants to improve his position but Rivet is controlling well.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tubby Hayes showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Hayes has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
