PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Don Self (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Chesterman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Chesterman struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 186.5lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. John Chesterman looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Self swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Self swats away the attempt to clinch by Chesterman.
Self fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Self throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Chesterman looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Self will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Self shoots in for a double leg but Chesterman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Self scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Chesterman closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Self closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Chesterman stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Chesterman wants it to stay on the feet.

Self jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Chesterman is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Chesterman and Self has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Self, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
