Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Craig Patton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Winchester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Winchester has chosen Carry on my Wayward Son as his entrance music. The key to victory for Craig Patton has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Patton shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Winchester keeping moving, preventing Patton from controlling successfully.
Winchester bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Patton's guard.
Winchester preventing the sweep.
Patton is pulling down on Winchester's head. It's preventing any offense from Winchester, at least for the moment.

Winchester thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Winchester drops back, looking for a kneebar! Patton looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Patton looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Patton!
Patton knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Winchester on the ground.
Winchester is trying to get back to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Winchester is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Patton pulls his head out easily.

Winchester has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Patton is working away from the top position though.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Patton is trying to control the action in half guard but Winchester is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Patton is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Winchester sees it coming and defends easily.
Winchester is looking to control Patton's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Winchester avoid being mounted?

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Patton fails with a takedown attempt.
Patton lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Winchester misses with a takedown attempt - Patton sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Patton wants to clinch.
Winchester dives in and grabs Patton's left leg, looking for a takedown. Patton pushes down on Winchester's head and hops out.

Patton escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Patton moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

and Winchester counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Winchester.
Winchester tries to free his leg and advance position but Patton is retaining full guard.
Winchester works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Winchester is working for a kimura but Patton is defending it quite comfortably.

Winchester stalling away here and it's allowed Patton to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Patton is on top in guard.

Patton is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Winchester has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Patton is looking to defend but Winchester has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Patton! Winchester pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Patton taps out and this one is all over!
