The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rennis misses with a double jab.
Tidwell fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Tidwell shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Rennis tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Rennis scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Tidwell is looking to escape. Tidwell is looking to control Rennis's leg but it's slowly edging free. Rennis decides to return to a standing position. Tidwell throws a head kick that misses so Rennis counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Tidwell is breathing heavily. Rennis wants to pass the guard but Tidwell is keeping the position. Rennis is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Rennis decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Tidwell, up you get! Rennis scores with a shot to the body.
Rennis scores a takedown into full mount! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rennis looking to secure an arm triangle but Tidwell defends it well. Tidwell is squirming around, avoiding Rennis's attempts to control the action. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rennis is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Tidwell can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Despite being in the dominant position, Ray Rennis just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Rennis showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Tidwell.

Rennis closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Rennis in side control, just content to control the action for now. Tidwell is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Rennis is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Rennis looking to control and managing it successfully. Tidwell has given up his back here.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Rennis is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Tidwell knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Tidwell for a finish. Rennis is cranking Tidwell's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Tidwell! He's tightened the choke and Tidwell is tapping out!
