Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ziyad gets the takedown into side control.
Hoberman defending against the ground and pound.
Ziyad throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Hoberman works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Ziyad throwing shots but Hoberman is blocking nicely.
Hoberman trying to hold on to Ziyad's head to control him but Ziyad postures up.
Ziyad is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hoberman sees it coming and defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ziyad stops Hoberman from getting back to his feet.
Ziyad is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hoberman doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ziyad.
Ziyad throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Ziyad is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hoberman sees it coming and defends easily.

Ziyad looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hoberman is defending against the submission attempts here by Ziyad.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ziyad lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Ziyad scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Hoberman wants to get back to his feet.
Ziyad wants to work for an arm triangle but Hoberman is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hoberman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ziyad on the ground.
Ziyad scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Ziyad is working for a submission of some sort.

Ziyad is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hoberman knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ziyad working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Hoberman takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Ziyad tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Hoberman tries to buck Ziyad off but Ziyad is having none of it.
Hoberman is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Ziyad has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Ziyad cracks Hoberman with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Hoberman tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ziyad wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Ziyad is working to tighten is grip on Hoberman's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Hoberman has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Ziyad is really squeezing tight and eventually Hoberman passes out! Ziyad breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
