Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Severo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Severo has chosen Hallowed Be Thy Name as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jason Young! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Severo! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Luis Engracia and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Young shoots in and bounces Severo off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Young trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Severo manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Young pulls Severo in close to prevent any damage. Young working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Severo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Severo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Severo wants to stand but Young has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Young keeping moving, preventing Severo from controlling successfully. Severo preventing the sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Young seems keen to control Severo's posture. Young is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Severo wants to control from the top but Young keeps moving.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Young closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Severo did well to prevent Young getting side control. Young knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Severo on the ground. Young wants to take a breather but Severo is having none of it. Severo looks like he's trying to stand up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Young trying to advance position but Severo counters by regaining guard. Young stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Severo swivels though and keeps the full guard. Severo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Young manages to get himself to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Severo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Severo trying to control but Young is working from the bottom. Severo with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Young is breathing heavily. Young keeping full guard, as Severo tries to pass. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Severo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Young keeping full guard, as Severo tries to pass.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Severo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Young counters with a nice double leg into guard. Severo keeping moving, preventing Young from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Severo pulls Young in close to his closed guard and prevents Young from doing any damage or advancing position. Severo is trying to control the position but Young postures up. Young wants to control from the top but Severo keeps moving. Young stops Severo from standing up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jason Young dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Severo leaves Young with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Severo throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Severo throws a left and a right that both miss
and Young counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Severo's guard now. Young is stalling in the full guard. Young won't allow Severo to sweep him here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Young wants to control from the top but Severo keeps moving. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Severo working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Young. Severo keeping moving, preventing Young from controlling successfully. Severo has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Young doesn't defend quickly enough and Severo has managed to lock this one up! Can Young escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Severo on a fantastic submission victory.
