And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo rodrigo!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

rodrigo drops Blahs with a left and a right! Oh, Blahs is hurt - rodrigo dives into side control looking to finish!

Blahs is rocked!

It looks like Tajhon Blahs has been cut.

rodrigo tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Oh Blahs is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
rodrigo sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Blahs is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
rodrigo in side control lands a decent elbow.
Blahs regains half guard.
Blahs seems to have got his legs back now.
rodrigo thows a huge punch but Blahs dodges it nicely.
Blahs wants to improve his position but rodrigo is controlling well.
rodrigo is pressing down on Blahs's thigh, looking to free his foot. Blahs is holding on for now.

rodrigo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Blahs defends it well.
Blahs is staying active underneath rodrigo, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Blahs tries to roll over but rodrigo keeps him under control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
No joy there for Blahs, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
rodrigo looks to score with a jab to the body but Blahs is just out of range.

rodrigo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Blahs circles away quickly and effectively.
rodrigo throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Blahs sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Tajhon Blahs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Blahs feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
rodrigo looks gassed!
rodrigo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Blahs working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

rodrigo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Blahs can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Blahs is pushing down on rodrigo's leg trying to pass to half guard. rodrigo is fighting to maintain full guard but Blahs has managed to sneak the leg through.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Blahs throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
rodrigo lands with a nice body punch.

rodrigo tries to keep at a distance but Blahs has taken the fight into the clinch.

A left hand lands to the body for Blahs.

Blahs has hold of one of rodrigo's legs. rodrigo is fighting the takedown attempt but Blahs gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Blahs is pushing down on rodrigo's leg trying to pass to half guard. rodrigo is fighting to maintain full guard but Blahs has managed to sneak the leg through.
rodrigo is trying to control but can't.
Blahs working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Blahs lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Blahs lands with a punch from half guard.
rodrigo is looking to improve his position.
Blahs works his foot free and advances to mount.
rodrigo wants to control but Blahs is having none of it.
Blahs pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
rodrigo can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Blahs's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Decent striking displayed by Blahs there.
rodrigo moves out of range as Blahs throws a body kick.
Blahs scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

Blahs tries a head kick but it misses.
rodrigo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Blahs.
Blahs throws an overhand right that lands on rodrigo's shoulder, as rodrigo tries to avoid the shot.
rodrigo keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
The fight stays on the outside here - Blahs looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
rodrigo throws a body punch but Blahs moves out of range.

Blahs clinches up with rodrigo and pushes him back against the cage.
rodrigo is breathing heavily.
Blahs is pressed up against the cage. rodrigo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Blahs down to the mat. Blahs avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Blahs feints and as rodrigo raises his hands in defense, Blahs changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

rodrigo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Blahs passes rodrigo's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
rodrigo tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Blahs has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Blahs landing punches.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Blahs cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

rodrigo swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Blahs connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

A nice elbow there by Blahs.
rodrigo takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Blahs's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
