The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza digs a good body shot into Buttstinks's ribs.
Souza throws a series of punches but Buttstinks avoids them all with ease.
Souza avoids the head kick by Buttstinks.
Souza is looking to clinch.
Souza connects with a looping right hand.
Buttstinks throws a low kick but Souza avoids it.
Buttstinks misses the shot to the body.
Souza tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Buttstinks paws at him with a jab and circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Buttstinks looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Souza tries to pass the half guard into mount. Buttstinks knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Souza wants to take a breather but Buttstinks is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Souza looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Buttstinks is trying to stand back up but Souza is controlling him

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Buttstinks blocking the ground and pound attempt from Souza.
Souza is taking a breather. Buttstinks says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Buttstinks pushes Souza off looking to stand but Souza dives back in and keeps control.
Souza seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Buttstinks does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Despite being in the dominant position, Carlos Souza just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Souza tries to keep at a distance but Buttstinks has taken the fight into the clinch.
Buttstinks keeps control of Souza as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Souza is trying to maintain a safe position but Buttstinks gets an underhook and turns Souza into the cage.
Buttstinks looking to throw knees to the head but Souza is blocking nicely.
Souza has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Buttstinks is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Souza goes for a takedown attempt but Buttstinks pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

PeePoop Buttstinks is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Souza darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Souza connects with a good right hand that stumbles Buttstinks. Buttstinks circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Buttstinks is breathing heavily.
Souza shoots in and drives through. Buttstinks sprawls well.
PeePoop Buttstinks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Souza.
Souza connects with a right hand. Buttstinks shakes it off.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Buttstinks avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Souza stalks Buttstinks and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Buttstinks's face. Buttstinks staggers backwards, shaken.
Souza scores with a nice head shot.
Souza doesn't manage to clinch there - Buttstinks circles away.
Souza checks a low kick from Buttstinks.
Souza uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Buttstinks.
Buttstinks stuffs the takedown attempt from Souza. Souza gets slowly back to his feet.
Souza fails to land the takedown.
Buttstinks lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

It looks like Carlos Souza has been cut.
Buttstinks throws a sloppy head kick and Souza moves out of range easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Souza uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Buttstinks.
Buttstinks fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Souza is out of range.
Souza misses with a two punch combination.
Souza lands with a big left! Buttstinks is wobbled badly! Souza comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Buttstinks to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.
