Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jeff Gomes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mark Klishenko!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Daniel Cesar and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Klishenko shoots in for a double leg but Gomes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Klishenko dives in and grabs Gomes's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gomes pushes down on Klishenko's head and hops out.
Klishenko has a takedown stuffed.
Jeff Gomes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Klishenko.
Klishenko rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gomes moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Klishenko shoots for a double leg takedown but Gomes sprawls well. He's pushed Klishenko's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gomes goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gomes is breathing heavily.
Klishenko prevents Gomes from standing back up.

Klishenko is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Klishenko wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gomes keeps working.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Klishenko is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Gomes has managed to free his arm - good work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gomes looks to land a combination. Klishenko sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Klishenko fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gomes avoids it really well and circles away.
Gomes lands a lovely overhand right.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nice jab there from Gomes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Klishenko shoots for a double leg takedown but Gomes sprawls well. He's pushed Klishenko's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Gomes has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Klishenko throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gomes's waist but Gomes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Klishenko off to one side.

Klishenko is trying to control the action in half guard but Gomes is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

A slow jab from Klishenko misses its intended target.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Klishenko misses with a takedown attempt - Gomes sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Klishenko dives in and grabs Gomes's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gomes pushes down on Klishenko's head and hops out.
Gomes stalks Klishenko and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Klishenko's face. Klishenko staggers backwards, shaken.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Klishenko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Klishenko shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gomes as he jumps to the side.
Klishenko shoots in looking for a takedown. Gomes tries to sprawl out of it but Klishenko keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gomes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gomes throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Klishenko on the side of the head.

Gomes fails to land with a series of punches.
Klishenko has a takedown stuffed.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Klishenko swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Gomes counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Gomes lands with a straight right. Klishenko didn't see that one coming.
Gomes looks to land a right hand but Klishenko moved out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Klishenko is defended easily by Gomes.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gomes throws a right and a left that Klishenko avoids nicely.

And that's the end of the fight!

I think Gomes has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
