Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vincenzo Calliente (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and georges Rush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rush has chosen Gsp´s Entrance as his entrance music. Vincenzo Calliente could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to georges Rush's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vincenzo Calliente! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, georges Rush! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Reed Andrews and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Calliente shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rush as he avoids it easily. Rush avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Calliente slaps away a takedown attempt from Rush, before circling back to the center of the mat. Rush avoids the head kick by Calliente.
Rush has managed to clinch.
Calliente pushes off an throws an elbow but Rush leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Rush is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Calliente gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Calliente pulls guard effortlessly. Rush makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Calliente is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Calliente throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Rush must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Calliente keeping moving, preventing Rush from controlling successfully. Rush looking to sit in guard and control but Calliente gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Calliente trying to control the position from guard on top but Rush is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Calliente stands up from Rush's guard - Calliente perhaps looking for a knockout. Calliente has taken the fight to the clinch.
Calliente prevents a takedown attempt there.
Vincenzo Calliente has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of georges Rush. Rush tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Calliente just stands there and leans against the cage. Rush is pressed up against the cage. Calliente has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rush down to the mat. Rush avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Rush tries to clinch but Calliente is having none of it. Excellent takedown into side control there by Calliente. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rush can do anything to dispel that myth. Calliente working the ground and pound but Rush is defending the strikes. Rush tries to get back to half guard but can't. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Calliente creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
That's two minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Rush's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Rush manages to work his way to half guard, despite Calliente's best efforts. Rush is defending against the submission attempts here by Calliente.
Rush wants to get back to his feet. Calliente working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Calliente slips a nice elbow through Rush's hands, connecting with Rush's forehead. Calliente tries to pass the half guard into mount. Rush knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Rush is positioning himself well to prevent Calliente advancing to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Calliente is looking for a kimura here.
Calliente is breathing heavily. Calliente performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Rush is trying to control but can't.
Rush tries to roll over but Calliente keeps him under control. Rush trying to control from the bottom.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Rush will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Calliente lands a left and a right that send Rush crashing to the mat, dazed. Calliente thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet! Calliente swats away the attempt to clinch by Rush. Calliente explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Calliente looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Calliente stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Rush to get to his feet. Rush takes a head kick and keeps coming.
A jab from Calliente does it's job there. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rush tries for a takedown but Calliente circles away easily and Calliente counters with a shoot takedown. Rush fights it but they end up in guard. Rush is working an open guard so Calliente takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Vincenzo Calliente dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Calliente shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Calliente missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Rush is looking to improve his position.
Calliente missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Calliente throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Calliente connects with a nice short shot to Rush's temple. Rush tries to get to full guard but Calliente has control of the leg. Calliente is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Calliente moves into full mount! Rush won't be happy about that! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Calliente cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
That's one minute gone in the round. Rush is bucking up trying to escape but Calliente cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Calliente looking to finish Rush with some ground and pound. This is bad for Rush! Rush is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Calliente in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Rush is in all sorts of trouble here.
Calliente goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Rush turns into him and now he's in Calliente's guard.
Rush with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Calliente is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Rush rolls with it to try and escape but Calliente cranks on the arm and Rush is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
