Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frank Horrigan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ramiro Crisp! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Emerson Jorge and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horrigan lands a jab to the head.
Crisp closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Horrigan did well to prevent Crisp getting side control. Crisp has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Horrigan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Crisp on the ground. Horrigan working to try and regain half guard.
Crisp trying to control but Horrigan is having none of it. Crisp unloads with some shots from mount but Horrigan bucks and avoids them well.
Horrigan looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight. Horrigan is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Horrigan holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Crisp tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
That's one minute gone in the round. Horrigan tries to reverse the position but Crisp maintains control. Horrigan avoids a series of strikes thrown by Crisp.
Crisp misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Crisp throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Crisp throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Crisp misses with a head shot. Crisp cracks Horrigan with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Crisp punching from mount but Horrigan doing a good job of avoiding damage. Crisp landing strikes, looking to finish! Horrigan tries to hold on but Crisp pushes him away. Crisp wants to control the pace but Horrigan is squirming around nicely. Horrigan really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Crisp lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Horrigan keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Crisp raining down shots from the mount!
Horrigan is rocked! Horrigan is looking to improve his position but Crisp isn't that keen on the idea. Oh Horrigan is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Crisp unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Horrigan wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Crisp celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ramiro Crisp!
